Ass. jur. Dr. Oliver Wagner

Dr. Oliver Wagner advises companies and asso­ciations from the banking, finance and capital market sectors on represen­ting their interests in Germany and at European level. He supports the analysis, monitoring and evaluation of new legislative projects, develops strategies and positions on them and identifies key players and contacts from administration, supervision and parliament as well as other relevant stakeholders. For this purpose, he also provides his extensive network from more than 20 years of representing the interests of banks and other financial services companies and establishes the corresponding contacts upon request. He is also happy to assist in the dialogue with supervisory authorities.

The lawyer started his career in 2000 at the Association of German Banks in Berlin, where he was in charge of numerous capital market law issues before moving to the Association of Foreign Banks in Germany (VAB) as Managing Director in 2009. He accompanied the foreign institutions based in Germany through the multitude of regulatory projects resulting from the financial crisis of 2008/2009, among other things through his participation in numerous expert committees of the supervisory authority and as a contact person for the institutions, but also for politics, ministries, supervision and the press. In the course of the Brexit preparations, he established the VAB as one of the central contact points for new institutions or institutions expanding their business operations and the political decision-makers in the German financial centre.
